I was about 12 when I saw the first Hummer drive down the street. I couldn’t believe how massive the vehicle was and ever since that day I have wanted a Hummer. What’s not to love about a Hummer? It is a beast that can handle just about any terrain and it’s the same vehicle the US army uses. When it comes to 4×4s the Hummer is the bench mark.
Hummer is now offering three models, the original H1, the H2, and the smaller H3. I love all the models, but for me the new Hummers are no comparison to the original H1. The H1’s iconic styling and its massive size really set it apart from the rest. The problem with most 4×4’s and large SUVs today is that they are designed to be driven around suburbia, but the H1 is designed for the army to be an indestructible vehicle that can handle just about any terrain.
I really wish I owned an H1 because it is the most functional off-road vehicle ever offered to the pubic and there are not a many things that can get in the way of this vehicle. Hummer has even improved on the H1 this year by offering it with more horsepower, more torque, more pulling power and a more luxuries interior. The Hummer will always be my favorite vehicle.
Other Popular Hummer Models
H2- The Hummer H2 was a follow up to the aforementioned H1 model. The H2 features higher ground clearance, protective underbody armor and contains relatively low gearing. The H2 can drive over a wall that is a foot and a half high. Purchasing the H2 will give you a tax break that comes with purchasing cars that weigh more then 6,000 pounds.
H3- The Hummer H3 model was the smallest model of all the other Hummers. It is sold as a mid-sized SUV and is more affordable to the general public. The car comes in four speed automatic transmission or five speed manual transmission. It is also capable of crossing over 20 inches of water. A new model was debuted just recently, the Hummer H3 Alpha. It features a Vortec 5.3 L V8 engine.
H4- The Hummer H4 is the hotly anticipated new Hummer model set for release 2008. The H4 is targeted to be more of an off road vehicle then the H3 was. The H4, however, is set to be even smaller then the H3. The H4 is set to come in either a five speed automatic transmission or a five speed manual transmission.
