10 Money Saving Tips for Auto Loan Shoppers

February 26th, 2007

Dealerships rarely have comparable or lower rates then online auto loan lenders. This is a common fact, so make sure to check around before you get that higher interest loan rate. Dealerships do not give the consumer the best loans available, simply because they do not believe that you will be approved for it and they would rather you finance through them directly - here is a list of tips you should try so you can ensure you’re getting the best online auto loan rate:

TIP #1
When you are ready to get a loan, check online first. Never settle on the original price. When deciding on the prices of the vehicle always ask for an invoice ahead of time.

TIP #2
Don’t purchase a vehicle unless it is at the end of the month. At the end of the month car salesmen are more willing to cut a deal with you to make their monthly quota.

TIP #3
Always ask questions. If you think something souds fishy, ask differet versions of the same question over and over again to verify that you’re getting the correct answer. Often times dealerships can slip things under customers noses, because a customer didn’t ask the right question at the right time.

TIP #4
Prepare yourself before stepping foot onto the dealership. Know the price of your vehicle and know that you are trying to get a good deal, not get ripped off.

TIP #5
Don’t deal with a salesman that seems to be rushing you through the process; only buy a car if you know for sure that you are not being sleezeballed.

TIP #6
Buy a car that you can afford, often time people purchase cars that they like instead of something that is in their price range.

TIP #7
When going in to purchase a car it is in your best interest to put a larger down payment down to knock down the monthly payments and causing you to pay less interest and saving you more.

TIP #8
Don’t be afraid to turn down a salesman, you are looking a car for you and it can be a very big financial obligation. Remember that it is your obligation not the car salesman, so you want to feel comfortable about what you have to pay.

TIP #9
Never trust a car salesman, look up the facts for yourself before deciding. Salesmen will say anything to make a sale.

TIP #10
Have patience. Sometimes buying a car at a dealership can take a long time - don’t trade huge potential savings for a sliver convenience!
